Q: How secure is the encryption used?

A: All password entries and files attached to the Password Manager Deluxe database are kept secure by the strong U.S. government approved 256-bit AES/Rijndael encryption. AES was adopted by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as an encryption standard.

Q: Can I encrypt files too?

A: Yes, you can attach any file to each entry in the database, and they will be encrypted as well. Attaching large files may make the database load slower, though.

Q: How does the Drag-Drop method work?

A: To use the Drag-Drop functionality, select a password entry and click the "Drag-Drop" button, or right click on the entry and click "Open Drag-Drop". A new window opens up. From here you can click "Open webpage". When the page loads, you can drag any of the fields into the forms the web page. You can also access drag and drop by right clicking the Password Manager Deluxe Tray icon in the lower right part of the Windows Start-menu. Note, drag and drop will work in Internet Explorer and Firefix.

Q: Does Password Manager Deluxe have any backdoors or ways to open a database without a password?

A: No, there are no backdoors or ways of opening a database without the Master Password. This makes it very important that you remember the master password and/or do not lose it, as there is no way to restore the database. We also recommend to use the Backup functionality in the program so that you always have a backup version of the database in case your hard-drive failes or something else happens to the database.

Q: Can I access my database through a network share or on a removable device?

A: Yes, you can open and save to a database on a network share as long as your Windows account has write and read permission to do so, and you can use the "Install to Removable Device" to easily place your database on a device for access on your other computers.

Q: Can I change my master password?

A: Yes, just use the "Change Master Password" function on the main menu, and enter the old password and your new password.

Q: I want to import a password list, can I do that?

A: Yes, you can import CSV and Text files, although the content of these files have to be in the same order as specified in the Help file.
